Enhancing Community-Based Disease Surveillance using AfyaData in Guinea

Early Feb 2023, SACIDS Foundation for One Health was contacted by FAO Guinea to provide support on implementation of AfyaData tool to enhance Animal health surveillance at the community level.

Three experts from SACIDS (Epidemiologist, System Analyst and System developer) travelled to Conakry, Guinea to support the implementation of AfyaData tool from 11th to 19 October, 2023. Major activities were; finalising AfyaData customisation, training of trainers (ToT) and providing guidance during community reporters (CAs) training.  A total of 17 official’s (FAO, Ministry of Agriculture & Livestock and local IT consultant ), 12 community reporter’s (CAs) and 4 Vet services (field level) were trained

The training sessions were official opened by the Senior Advisor Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, Dr. Jean-Luc FABER – Middle and aired on Guinea National Television –RTG

Also the team had an opportunity to meet several officials from FAO and Vet services during curtesy calls before the official implementation process began
